(Cannibal Holocaust (1980

A New York anthropologist, named Professor Harold Moore (Robert Kerman), travels to the wild, inhospitable jungles of South American with two local guides to find out what happened to a documentary film crew which disappeared nearly a year earlier while traveling into the same jungle, called the 'Green Inferno' to film a documentary about reputed cannibal tribes. After a long search and encountering a few primitive tribes, Professor Moore finds the remains of the crew and several reels of their undeveloped film. Upon returning to the USA, Professor Moore ****s the film in detail featuring the travels of the director Alan Yates (Gabriel York), his assistant Faye Daniels (Francesa Ciardi), and cameramen Jack Anders (Perry Pirkanen) and Mark Tomaso (Luca Giorgio Barbareschi) venturing into the jungles where the inexperienced, street-wise film group, after finding the indigenous tribes to docile for their film, decide to push them for kicks, with drastic consequences.

A man named Pete gets a phone call from his friend, Jemma, who says she has evidence that a professor missing in the Amazon is still alive. Pete hires two men, Mark and Fred, to steal a plane and fly down to the jungle to meet with her. Once there, they meet with Jemma and head into the jungle. The group gets the help of a young native girl to take them to the legendary Imas tribe, the tribe in which the professor was said to be with. However, during their search for the Imas, they run into gold hunters, who are intent on killing the tribe and stealing their treasure. Now racing against the treasure seekers to reach the Imas, they also uncover another scandal in the jungle and try to shut them both down to save the local natives.

One of the less gruesome cannibal tales. A woman is searching for her missing sister and she finds hope in the folly of a dead hit-man who has a film on him. The film shows some sadistic torture and a brief cameo by her sister taken by a documentary film crew who obviously didn't make it out. She then leaves for the jungle joined by cannibal film regular Robert Kerman (playing Mark Butler), where they meet up with the standard Cannibal tribe and a Jim Jones like cult ******. Of course escape is next to impossible with the always-hungry cannibals waiting them out and the crazy followers of the suicide cult ****** ready to eat them on command.

RKO producer Val Lewton seemed to thrive upon taking the most lurid film titles and coming up with pocket-edition works of art. Saddled with the studio-dictated title I Walked With a Zombie, Lewton, together with scripters Curt Siodmak and Ardel Wray, concocted a West Indies variation on Jane Eyre. Trained nurse (Frances Dee) travels to the tropics to care for Christine Gordon, the wife of seemingly abusive Tom Conway. At first, Dee merely believes her patient to be comatose. But as the drums throb and the natives behave restlessly, Dee tries to bring her patient back to life by jungle magic. Conway is racked with guilt, believing himself responsible for his wife's condition; his guilt is stoked by Conway's drunken brother James Ellison, who has always loved Gordon. Utilizing very limited sets and only a handful of extras, director Jacques Tourneur manages to evoke an impression of an expansive tropical island populated at every turn by voodoo worshippers. Many of the sequences, notably Frances Dee's first languid stroll into the midst of the native ceremonies, have an eerie dream-like quality that pervades even the most worn-out, badly processed TV prints of I Walked With Zombie.

Six high school buddies accidentally kill a drug pusher and dump his body in toxic waters. When the pusher returns as a zombie and goes on a killing spree, their only recourse is to dump the body of one of their own recently dead, and have him return as a "good" zombie to face off with the "bad" one. The producer's hook for the film was to feature music by groups the likes of The Fleshtones and Los Lobos.

Kung Fu Zombie 1982

A criminal comes to town in order to kill Billy Chong over a past dispute. But instead of getting his own hands dirty, he hires a Taoist wizard to animate some zombies to do the job for him. The plan goes horribly awry, and the bad guy ends up getting killed in his own trap. This pisses off the villain's spirit and he forces the priest to reincarnate him - only they can't find a suitable body. Meanwhile, an undead fiend of sorts comes to town to kill Billy's father over some other past dispute. This is where all of Billy's kung fu training comes in handy, and he manages to kill the attacker. With this, the other bad guy finally has a body to use, but the reincarnation goes wrong and the corpse is reborn as a vampire.

During World War II, a small German squadron was assigned the task of carrying a shipment of Nazi gold across the African desert. In the back-woods of America live a very special kind of people. Friendly, decent, hard-working dirt farmers. When they accidentally drink a barrel of nuclear waste they turn into tobacco chewing, flesh eating, cannibal kinfolk from hell. Meanwhile, seven sophisticated city slickers on vacation get lost in the woods and encounter a nightmare world of these illiterate, and extremely insensitive, undead. While the tourists hikers use all their wits and courage to stay alive, more and more "down-home" types imbibe the nasty brew until Redneck Zombies are everywhere. What started as a scenic nature-hike turns into a bloodbath of dismemberment and cannibalism.

The biggest problem I have while watching this movie is that I can't decide what I like the best about it. Is it the cheap, grainy stock it was filmed on? The cardboard box meat grinder? Maybe the hero, Dr Howard Glass, who sneaks drinks between operations? It could even be the mish mash of other fun characters like cemetary caretaker Caleb and his doll obsessed wife Cleo, the crippled factory workers and the evil Landau and Maltby. No, I think it's the scene where the FDA secretary goes home, strips to lingerie and then drinks a can of beer before being killed by her cat.
The title gives it all away here: a cat food company is grinding corpses into cat food. The cats are developing a taste for human flesh, and start attacking their masters. By this logic, some of us should all be at farms, taking big bites out of pigs and cows. But nevermind that, it's up to Dr Glass and his busty nurse Angie to stop Maltby and Landau before Angie is turned into cat food herself.
What's not to like about this move? If you love whacked out no-budget horror/exploitation gems, this is for you. Arch Hall Jr (pudgy star of Wild Guitar and more) co-wrote this, and it was directed by Ted V. Mikels-- castle dwelling bigamist and master of 70's sleaze. Campy fun for all.
